Today, the Houston Dynamo invited leaders from the major supporters groups to a special meeting where we got a tour of the progress of the ongoing Dynamo Stadium construction.  The Dynamo also revealed the location of the three sections where over 450 supporters will be standing at the new stadium.

The major Dynamo supporters groups (Texian Army, El Batallon, La Bateria, and Brickwall Firm) will be standing in the lower bowl at the southeast corner of the stadium.  After the groups have combined for over 300 season tickets in the combined section for 2012, the team opened up a third section for supporters to fill.

The supporters section will be situated between the players entrance, which is directly behind the south goal, and the emergency vehicle entrance in the southeast corner.  The lower bowl will only be around 8-10 rows in each section, so as the supporters groups grow, additional standing sections will be made available directly behind the ones in the lower bowl.

I have highlighted the supporters sections in orange in the attached map.  Ignore the numbers around the stadium, as this is from an early rendering and may not be accurate anymore.

As for the stadium tour, the work is coming along very nicely.  The severe Texas drought is helping to speed along construction since there are few weather delays.  Construction of the Dynamo Stadium is currently is set to be completed on May 4, 2012.  That’s fine by me, since I am planning on getting married in late April and do not want my wedding to conflict with the opening of the stadium.

One of the features that I’m really looking forward to at the new Dynamo Stadium is how close you will be to the players.  The bottom of the lower bowl will only be eighteen inches above the field, so fans will be right on top of the players.

I also got a look at some of the seat options that the team are considering.  Note that the chairs are samples, so ignore the purple and blue colors.  A few had Dynamo logos on them, but one had a horseshoe on it!  I made a collage of some of the chairs that I saw.  The room was dark so apologies for the poor lighting.

If you are interested in standing with the supporters in 2012, click here for information on how to place a deposit.  Tickets in the standing-only sections are only $250 each.
